REP Strengthens Disaster Preparedness with Earthquake and Fire Safety Drill

Renesons Energy Polillo, Inc. (REP) successfully conducted a two-day Earthquake and Fire Safety Drill at its plant site in Polillo, Quezon, as part of its ongoing commitment to workplace and community disaster preparedness. The activity aimed to strengthen readiness in responding to emergencies, particularly earthquakes and fire incidents.

The program opened with a safety briefing led by FO3 Journey Romero from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and Mr. Henry Cruz from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (NDRRMO). Conducted on the first day at the REP plant site, the session covered essential guidelines on preventive measures, evacuation procedures, and safety protocols before, during, and after emergencies, ensuring participants were equipped with practical and life-saving knowledge.

On the second day, REP engineers and administrative personnel carried out a full-scale simulation. The drill began with an earthquake scenario, followed by evacuation and area assessment, which uncovered a simulated fire in one of the diesel tanks. The exercise was observed by BFP, NDRRMO, and Barangay Sibulan officials, further reinforcing REP’s commitment to disaster preparedness.

The event concluded with commendations from BFP and NDRRMO, recognizing REP’s preparedness, discipline, and commitment to safety, affirming its readiness for real-life emergencies and dedication to high standards of disaster response
