Powering Communities Through Culture, Heritage, and Shared Progress

From March 14 to 18, 2026, Polillo Island celebrated its 391st Founding Anniversary alongside the 8th Dragon Boat Festival, bringing together culture, community, and local enterprise in a shared celebration of heritage and progress.

Through its sponsorship, Renesons Energy Polillo (REP) supported the municipality in enabling a celebration that went beyond tradition, creating platforms for community participation, youth engagement, and local economic activity.

Dragon Boat Festival: A Race for the Waves

Dragon Boat Team

Teams compete in spirited races along Polillo’s waters during the Dragon Boat Festival, a highlight of the anniversary celebrations.

The 8th Dragon Boat Festival gathered teams from various towns in a display of teamwork, discipline, and resilience. More than a sporting competition, it served as a platform for youth engagement and reinforced Polillo’s maritime identity.

This participation strengthened values of discipline, collaboration, and perseverance among athletes and youth participants, extending the festival’s impact beyond competition into everyday community life.

The celebration also generated increased local activity, with visitors supporting small enterprises and community-based services across the island, contributing to broader tourism and livelihood opportunities.
