Cafe Operations Manager

Job Summary:

The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the coffee shop/café, ensuring excellent customer service, efficient workflow, and profitability. This role involves staff supervision, inventory management, quality control, and overall business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Store Operations & Efficiency

  • Ensure smooth daily operations of the café, including opening and closing procedures.

  • Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and compliance with health & safety regulations.

  • Optimize workflows to improve service speed and efficiency.

  • Implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for consistency in service and product quality.

2. Sales & Customer Experience

  • Drive excellent customer service and handle customer concerns effectively.

  • Monitor customer feedback and implement service improvements.

  • Train staff on upselling techniques to increase sales.

  • Develop and execute promotional activities to boost sales and customer engagement.

3. Staff Management & Development

  • Recruit, train, and manage café staff, ensuring they understand company values and standards.

  • Schedule staff shifts to maintain optimal workforce levels.

  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching.

  • Foster a positive and motivating work environment.

4. Inventory & Cost Management

  • Manage inventory levels to ensure sufficient stock without over-ordering.

  • Work with suppliers to maintain quality ingredients at the best cost.

  • Track and control food and beverage costs to maximize profitability.

  • Reduce wastage and optimize resource utilization.

5. Financial & Business Performance

  • Monitor daily sales, expenses, and profitability reports.

  • Analyze financial data to identify areas for cost-saving and revenue growth.

  • Set performance targets and work towards achieving them.

  • Implement cost-effective strategies without compromising quality.

6. Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and labor laws.

  • Conduct regular quality checks on food, beverages, and service.

  • Enforce proper maintenance of equipment and facilities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Hospitality, or related field (preferred).

  • At least 2-5 years of experience in a café, restaurant, or hospitality management role.

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Knowledge of inventory management and cost control.

  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
