Cost Accountant
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Cost Accountant to manage and analyze product costing, inventory valuation, and cost variances. The ideal candidate will play a key role in supporting pricing decisions, profitability analysis, and financial close activities while ensuring accuracy and compliance with company costing policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain cost sheets, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and standard costing records
- Analyze cost variances (materials, labor, and overhead) and identify root causes with actionable insights
- Monitor inventory valuation, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods costing
- Assist in pricing decisions, tenders, and quotation support to maintain competitiveness
- Coordinate with production, procurement, and finance teams to gather and validate cost data
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings from a cost accounting perspective
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and company costing policies
- Maintain and update costing masters within ERP systems
- Assist in cost audits, reconciliations, and statutory filings (where applicable)
- Provide analytical support for make-or-buy decisions and profitability studies
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Accountancy or any accounting-related course
- Expertise: Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles, standard costing, and variance analysis
- Experience: Hands-on experience in budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP accounting systems, specifically Xero
