A Step Closer to Power: Project Greenlight Reaches a Key Milestone
REP takes another step toward renewable energy with the arrival of biomass technology in Polillo.
Renesons Energy Polillo, Inc. (REP) has reached an important milestone in Project Greenlight with the delivery of its biomass technology bringing the project closer to installation, testing, and commissioning.
But the milestone represents more than the arrival of new equipment.
Project Greenlight explores how locally available agricultural resources, including coconut waste from farming activities on the island, can potentially be transformed into biomass fuel for energy generation.
A Twelve-Day Journey to Polillo
The arrival was a milestone, but getting there was a story of its own.
For twelve days, the biomass technology traveled by barge from Shanghai to Manila and finally to Polillo. Its journey to the project site required close coordination among REP, the LGU, police, and barangay officials, even temporarily clearing structures along the route to make way for the equipment.

The effort reflects what Project Greenlight is ultimately about: bringing people, technology, and community together to create new energy possibilities for Polillo.
As the project moves toward gasification, the delivery marks an important step in bringing renewable energy innovation closer to an underserved island community.
The delivery marks an important step forward for Project Greenlight. Bringing approximately 60 tons of biomass equipment to off-grid Polillo required close coordination and collective effort. Weighing roughly as much as 40 passenger cars combined, its successful arrival marked a significant milestone for Project Greenlight.

Turning What’s Left Behind into Energy
Coconut shells and other agricultural by-products don’t have to end up as waste. These materials can potentially be collected and repurposed as biomass feedstock, giving them a new purpose as a source of energy.
For Polillo, this means exploring how resources already available in the community can be put to productive use while supporting REP’s broader move toward renewable energy. With the biomass technology now arriving on site, Project Greenlight takes another step toward turning that potential into reality.

More Than a Technical Milestone
What began with a groundbreaking in 2024 has since moved steadily toward implementation. Today, the project is entering a new phase as the biomass equipment arrives on site.

For Engr. Jonnard Taran, Senior Project Engineer, the milestone means more than seeing equipment delivered. After being involved in Project Greenlight from its earlier stages, he is now seeing the work take physical form.
His reflection captures the human side of Project Greenlight. Behind every equipment delivery are the people who planned, coordinated, solved problems, and worked together to move the project forward.

Ms. Gelica Villarosa, Project Coordinator, highlighted another side of the milestone: the coordination and care required to bring people together on the ground. From working with local stakeholders to making sure crews had food, water, and the support they needed throughout the delivery, she saw how much the success of the operation depended on everyone working together.
Together, their experiences reflect the many people behind Project Greenlight turning months of preparation into a milestone that could finally be seen on site.
Engineering the Delivery
Behind the equipment’s arrival was months of preparation by the MASE Builders, Inc. (MBI) team, from readying staging areas, access routes, and concrete pads to coordinating material handling and site preparations. The Renesons Energy Polillo (REP) and Move Us Inc. (MUI) teams also supported the effort, helping coordinate site movements around weather conditions, tides, and barge schedules. Each step was carefully coordinated to accommodate the requirements of the equipment and the realities of an off-grid location.

For Engr. Jade Guillen, MEFPS Engineer, seeing the equipment arrive marked the point where months of engineering preparation could begin translating into the next phase of the project.
For Engr. Ronel Garcia, MEFPS Coordinator, careful coordination was key to ensuring the equipment could be received safely and efficiently from checking lifting capacities to preparing the access routes and manpower needed for unloading.
With the equipment now on site, the MBI team looks ahead to positioning, installation, and the preparations for testing and commissioning bringing Project Greenlight closer to operation.
From Arrival to Deployment
The milestone now gives way to the work of putting the technology into place and preparing it for operation.

The milestone brings REP closer to putting the technology into operation and advancing its exploration of renewable energy solutions that can make productive use of locally available agricultural resources.
The equipment may have arrived in a single delivery, but what it represents is much bigger: Project Greenlight is moving from plans into progress and its vision is beginning to take shape on the ground.
